KITEBOARDING LESSONS

THE LESSONS

1) Control of a power kite is the key to success.  You will begin your training in the shallows behind the reef where you can comfortably focus on kite control, body dragging, and safety techniques.

2) Once you can comfortably control a fully powered kite you are ready for your first ride.  You will be working on water starting and controlling the power in the kite and on the board.

3) The last step to becoming a kiteboarder is becoming free of the boat, and that means riding upwind.  Full power and lots of carving are the key to success and we will hook you up with the tools and instruction to do both!

INTRODUCTION TO KITEBOARDING
Although you probably caught the “kite bug” watching the locals rip it up on Great Bay or some other hot spot you will want to learn the basics in a less intimidating atmosphere.  The best local spot is just around the corner on Cas Cay and the best way to get there is by boat!  We meet at The Water Sports Center at The Ritz-Carlton at the time specified by your instructor.  After a short briefing we load up one of our custom kiting skiffs and embark on our journey, 20-minutes round trip.  This uniquely beautiful cay is located in the Marine Sanctuary and features a grassy shoal behind the reef that smoothes out the waist deep water, perfect for learning to kiteboard!  If the wind does not cooperate during your lesson all is not lost, explore the island or snorkel the reef until the wind returns.

Intermediate-Advanced Lessons
Once you can control the kite with one hand comfortably you are ready to focus on riding!  We will step you up to a fully powered kite and focus on maximizing your time in the water by taking the support boat to one of our alternate riding locations.  After you are carving your board upwind and confidentaly re-launching the kite from the water the final step to riding on your own is the assisted beach launch and landing.   At this point you are certified as a Level 1 PASA Kiteboarder and clear for take off!
